Rob McCallum (PhD - New York University) known by the students as Dr Mac was an art, woodshop and STEAM teacher at Allen-Stevenson for 20 years retiring in 2021. In 2006 along with his partner Cindy Maguire they founded Creative Art Start, an after-school and summer arts program for K-6 children and youth.

Dr Mac has over 40 years experience in teaching and his greatest love is focused on teaching elementary and middle school students. He motivates the students through play and creativity and has been engaged in the Maker movement for many years.

Dr Mac was also an adjunct faculty member in the Art Education Program at New York University for 17 years. Prior to coming the USA, he was Head of the Department of Fine Art and then Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Johannesburg. Dr Mac is also a practicing artist and has exhibited locally and internationally. He also designs and produces community-based collaborative art with children and youth in New York City as well as internationally.
